When talking about the Seediq tribe, what comes to your mind? The Wushe Incident? Mona Rudao? Or the movie Seediq Bale? Most of the time, the Seediq tribe is known for their courageous resistance against Japanese colonial forces in the 1930s. However, the rich history and unique culture of the Seediq people are far more intriguing than that.

Motivated by the movie Seediq Bale and our group members’ childhood experiences, we decided to use this opportunity to explore the true essence of Seediq culture and history. In this project, we interviewed the Chairman of the Seediq Youth Association and visited the Shunyi Museum of Formosan Indigenous Peoples.

Overall, this project will introduce the lesser-known side of Seediq history, their unique cultural and traditional practices, and other fascinating facts about the Seediq people.
